Organization Structure

The present senior management team took over the management and operations of the Laboratory in Year 2000, replacing the pioneer team which has left the company.

Mr. Ip Kwok Khuen holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University and has served as Resident Engineer overseeing a number of prestigious projects stretching from 1980 to 2000, before he assumed the post of Head of Laboratory in the Company. He leads a team of engineers and technical personnel who are highly experienced and skillful in the field of materials testing. Good teamwork combined with efficient work planning and execution ensures that customers' requirements are promptly and competently fulfilled.

Quality Management System

The Laboratory carries out examination, testing, and calibration work in accordance with the internationally-recognized test methods such as British Standards, European Nations Standards, Malaysian Standards, American Society of Testing and Materials or other standards as specified by the customers. To stay abreast with the latest changes in editions of test methods and Standard Specifications, the Laboratory tracks and monitors closely the official website of DSM, BSI, ASTM, etc.

The Laboratory initiated the implementation of Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAMM) based on the requirements of MS ISO/IEC 17025 in Year 2010. With the full commitment from the top management and dedication of the staff, the Laboratory successfully obtained the first SAMM accreditation scope in March 2011. Since then, the number of accreditation scopes increased over the years of continual implementation.

The Laboratory's operations and quality management system are guided by documented procedures in accordance with MS ISO/IEC 17025 requirements to ensure technical competency, good professional practices, integrity and accuracy to meet customers' and SAMM's requirements.

The competency of staff who operate specific equipment, perform testing and sign test reports is enhanced by both in-house and external training programmes and evaluation on a scheduled basis.

The Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of testing equipment which are well-maintained and calibrated periodically against reference standards traceable to the SI units. Intermediate checks are carried out midway before the equipment calibration due dates to ensure validity and accuracy.

Inter-laboratory testing programmes are organized amongst collaborative accredited laboratories to assure quality and reliability of test results.

The Laboratory is constantly expanding and making innovation to improve the work scope and capabilities by committing resources to strengthen areas of operation with the objective to continually improve the effectiveness of the quality management system.
